High Court declines Lalu Prasad Bail and orders him to surrender

Lalu Prasad Yadav, former Chief Minister of Bihar has been on medical bail since he was convicted and was sent to jail in December 2017 in fodder scam case.  Jharkhand High court has rejected the bail plea of RJD (Rashtriya Janta Dal) Party supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav. The court further ordered him to surrender by 30 August.

Lalu Prasad was granted provisional bail and is now undergoing treatment at Asian Heart Institute, Mumbai. Lawyer of Lalu Prasad pleaded for 3 month extension of his bail on medical grounds which the court rejected and asked him to surrender by 30 August.

The bench of Justice Apresh Kumar Singh observed the medical grounds and said that Mr. Prasad health is not life threatening he may also avail the treatment for post fistula surgery at Rajendra Institute of Medical Science, Ranchi. The well known Indian politician was recently operated for fistula at Mumbai, Asian Hear Institute and had got an infection his advocate Prabhat Kumar  informed. Further he told that Mr. Prasad is advised 3 more surgeries for prostrate removal of stone from kidney and Cataract.

Lalu Prasad was lodged at Birsa Munda Central Jail on 23 December because of conviction in fodder scam case, after serving 2 months in jail, due to some health problem he was released on provisional bail. He was first admitted to Rajendra Institute of Medical Science, Ranchi and was later referred to AIMMS, New Delhi.. He was granted provisional bail for six weeks by HC on 11 May. The Court subsequently extended twice his bail finally which ended on 20 August.
