Supreme Court reserves its Verdict on plea of live streaming of court proceeding

The Apex court of India reserved its verdict on plea related to live the court proceedings. The bench comprised of CJI Dipak Misra Justice A M Khanwilkar, DY Chandrachud said that the bench would pass appropriate orders after Attorney general KK Venugopal suggested live streaming of important cases. He further suggested that Important cases of CJI Court can be started on pilot basis, This can be applied on other courtrooms but depending on the success of pilot project.

One lawyer sitting in the courtroom during proceeding opposed and said bad impact and effect Administration of Justice and may also lead to spreading of fake news. The top court said that Judiciary by this aims to implement concept of open courts. The court had in earlier proceedings termed this proposal as “Need of Hour”.

The petition was filed by Law student sought directions for setting up live streaming rooms within apex court premises and granting access to legal interns.The plea also sought requisite guidelines to facilitate witnessing the court proceeding for the interns which will ultimately enhance their skill. Earlier also petitions was filled for video recording of proceedings in matter of national importance by Senior Advocate Indira Jaising.
